Suit Care Guide

Proper care preserves the structure, drape, and longevity of a made-to-measure wool suit. The following guidelines reflect best practices for maintaining premium tailoring.

Daily & Routine Care

After Each Wear

  • Allow your suit to rest for at least 24 hours between wears
  • Hang on a wide, structured hanger to support the shoulders
  • Lightly brush the fabric to remove surface dust and lint

Resting your suit allows wool fibers to recover and maintain their shape over time.

Steaming vs. Pressing

  • Use light steaming to remove wrinkles and refresh the fabric
  • Avoid frequent hard pressing, which can flatten the fabric and alter structure
  • If pressing is needed, use low heat and a pressing cloth

Steaming is preferred for maintaining natural drape.

Cleaning Recommendations

Machine Washing

We do not recommend machine washing wool suits. Water, heat, and agitation can shrink fibers, distort shape, and compromise internal structure.

Dry Cleaning

  • Dry clean only when necessary, not after every wear
  • Over-cleaning can prematurely break down fibers and canvassing
  • Choose a cleaner experienced with tailored garments

As a general guideline, occasional dry cleaning after several wears is sufficient.

Spot Cleaning

  • For small marks, blot gently with a damp cloth
  • Avoid rubbing aggressively
  • Seek professional cleaning for oil-based or set-in stains

Storage & Travel

Long-Term Storage

  • Store suits in a breathable garment bag
  • Avoid plastic covers, which trap moisture
  • Ensure the suit is clean before extended storage

Traveling With Your Suit

  • Use a garment bag whenever possible
  • When folding, place tissue or a soft cloth along creases
  • Steam lightly upon arrival rather than pressing immediately

Rotation & Longevity

Rotating between multiple suits significantly extends lifespan. Wool benefits from rest, and frequent wear without rotation accelerates breakdown.

Final Notes

A well-made suit is designed to last. Thoughtful care—rather than frequent cleaning—preserves both appearance and structure over time.
